NEW TO WAX MELTS?

WHAT ARE MELTS?

🌿 What Are Wax Melts?

Wax melts are small, scented pieces of wax designed to be gently heated to release fragrance into your space. Think of them as wickless candles — all the aroma, none of the flame.

🔥 How Do Wax Melts Work?

To use wax melts, you’ll need a wax warmer (also called a wax burner), which safely heats the wax. These warmers come in all kinds of styles — from simple ceramic burners to decorative electric ones — and you’ll find a curated selection in our shop.

Similar to an oil burner, the warmer holds a small dish above a heat source — either a tealight or an electric element. As the dish warms, the wax melts, turning into liquid and releasing fragrance throughout the room.

🌸 What Are Wax Melts Made Of?

Wax melts come in all colours, shapes and styles — from hearts and stars to snap bars and seasonal designs. They can be made with different wax types, including:

  • Soy wax (plant-based and clean-burning)

  • Paraffin wax (common but derived from fossil fuels)

  • Beeswax or other vegetable-based waxes

Some melts are enhanced with mica shimmer, glitter, dried flowers, or sprinkles for a touch of visual charm.

💡 Why Choose Wax Melts?

  • 💰 Affordable: More cost-effective than candles or diffusers

  • 🕊️ Cleaner burn: Especially with soy wax — no sooty smoke or black marks

  • 🐾 Safer scent: When used correctly, wax melts are generally pet- and child-safe*

  • 🌬️ Adjustable throw: Want a stronger scent? Just add more wax (without overfilling)

🧼 Easy to Clean & Reuse

Once the scent fades, simply reheat the wax until the bottom softens — it’ll slide right out of the dish, ready for your next melt.

🛍️ What to Look For

When buying melts, check for:

  • The type of wax used

  • The fragrance load (ideally between 7%–10%)

  • The weight of each melt or bar

At We Make Melts, we hand-pour each melt — so while our 5-chunk snap bars weigh approx. 50g, you might get a little extra thanks to our generous pours!
