NEW TO WAX MELTS?

Wax melts are scented pieces of wax, designed to be gently heated to release their fragrance. They're similar to scented candles but without the wick. 

To safely heat the wax a wax warmer (or burner) is used.  These come in a huge variety of sizes and designs and you can purchase a burner from our shop.

Similar to an oil burner but with the dish positioned further away from the heat source for a slower and less intense burn, the burners themselves are 'powered'  by tea light or electricity.

As the warmer dish heats so the wax melts to a liquid and this causes the fragrance to be released from the wax, diffusing into the atmosphere.

Melts come in an array of colours, shapes and sizes and the base wax can be paraffin, bees wax or vegetable based, with or without other additives. 

Producers further enhance the look of their melts with shimmery mica mineral power, dried flowers, glitter, food sprinkles and other trimmings.

Wax melts create an even scent distribution, which is not harmful to children or pets*.  They are generally cheaper than essential oils, reed diffusers and candles and add a pleasant aroma (or scent throw) to the room they are in.

Soya melts are often described as being cleaner to burn than scented candles, as vegetable based waxes don't produce a sooty smoke, so no black marks up the wall.

A wax melt aroma can be made stronger simply by adding more melt to the dish (being careful not to overfill).

​

Look out for wax melts using your preferred wax base, a good % of fragrance (7-12%) and also check how much you are getting for your money.

We specify the approximate weight of our waxes so you know what you are getting for your money; approximate because we hand pour, so can often be more generous. The WMM 5 chunk snap bars are c50g each but not all manufacturers supply these bars in the same weight, so it's always good to know the weight when ordering on-line.

Finally, spent wax is removed simply by gently reheating, so just the underside begins to melt.  The wax will then slide cleanly off the dish, ready for a refill.
